Root Canals

root canalsWe know root canals aren’t fun, and we make them as painless as we possibly can by using the latest technology.

Root canals are needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection.  In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria and any decay are removed and the space is filled with special medicated dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function and relieves you of pain. Having a root canal done on a tooth is the best way to save a tooth that otherwise would die and have to be removed.  Many patients believe that removing a tooth that has problems is the solution, but what is not realized is that extracting a tooth will ultimately be more costly and cause significant problems for adjacent teeth.

If you have extreme sensitivity to hot and cold, see or feel a pimple-like bump on your gums, are in severe pain from a toothache or feel swelling and tenderness around a tooth, give us a call because these may be symptoms of an infected or decayed tooth that needs a root canal.
